Traditionally, cleaning product markets have been so profitable that manufacturing giants spent huge sums squeezing out or buying out smaller competitors. Heavy advertising, streamlining production, distribution and raw material costs became the priorities and Environmental issues were largely ignored. In recent years markets have become increasingly polarized with a rapid increase in demand for eco-friendly products. Science has supported the majority of such products as being equal to and often superior to their mass-produced counterparts. At Penney’s we use eco-friendly products whenever possible. We anticipate that within the next two years synthetic products will be used only for specialized cleaning and will represent a fraction of our materials.
